summary: It’s been two years since Sam nearly died in a hunter’s trap and accepted Dean’s offer to become a vampire. Two years of running and hiding as the gradual transformation slowly takes hold in a desperate gamble to put himself out of reach of the demons pursuing him. But two years is a long time to stay hidden from the world, and one little slip is enough to catch the attention of not only the demons searching for him and the hunters who want him dead, but also the one person in the world he least wants involved-- his father.

This story is a sequel to In Arcadia Ego

author's notes: Much love to my fantastic artist, [livejournal.com profile] inanna_maat, who made this art for me when I asked nicely after In Arcadia Ego posted, because I wanted to have some continuity in the illustration (and she's so freaking fantastic!!!) <3<3<3 Make sure you check out her Art Masterpost

This fic only managed to come into being because [livejournal.com profile] elusive_life_77 loves me and  managed not to block my email when over the course of 14 months she was handed the first two chapters about thirty times. The amount of hand holding needed for this freaking fic was un-fucking-believable. And I don't use the language lightly. I'm having her canonized, or bronzed -- something like that. My profound thanks go out to several other individuals as well: [livejournal.com profile] vodou_blue, who is certainly dealing with enough of her own problems right now, but still worked this story in. I hate posting things she hasn't seen, and I'm so grateful she managed to carve out the time to review it <3. [livejournal.com profile] heard_the_owl also did some  much needed review work and made some greatly appreciated suggestions! She disproves of my italics, but I can't stop, it's like a disease *solemnly* Believe that I do penance when it's time to code them in *dryly* [livejournal.com profile] weeping00willow patted my head and checked each chapter as it happened, and then patiently told me the story needed another chapter next, which since this thing is so incredibly late was really more necessary than you would generally expect. Appreciation to [livejournal.com profile] caz2y5 for showing her usual fortitude and patience when I harass her with random comments and griping at all hours of the night, though lately she's started to talk about learning how to block people, so it's a good thing this story is over. [livejournal.com profile] roshni06 was there as always to help man the pompoms! And also thanks to my friend,[livejournal.com profile] elumir_calemmir, who has some unpleasantness coming up and wanted to read the story first. Uh, think of it as a reward this way? *hugs*

Anyone who helped me out and I haven't mentioned, feel free to remind me so I can add you to the list!

I was looking forward to this the first time I read In Arcadia. It's been fun re-reading that the past week and then this story. I love this 'verse and what you did with Sam. He and John got more resolution than I expected. I love how different father and son are even though they experienced similar tragedies. It's brilliant and DEAN. I'm going to sit here and think that Dean kept Sam hidden and out of the way of Demons for the next decade. And that they eventually decided they loved each other (maybe even *told* each other). Yes I am.

I'm so glad you liked it (and enjoyed the In Arcadia reread *grins* )! I needed to tie up the hanging issue of John and the demons, so it was nice when all parties decided to cooperate with me *dryly* I think that sounds like a reasonable path to envision for them, at least until I get around (hopefully) to doing the last story. It seems to be a running theme with me. <3
