I've read all this in one shot, and enjoyed it very much! I really like the way you write John, he's as irritating and exasperating as he is in the show, but he's also got that something that keeps us from disliking him all together, the sense that deep down, he's a good person and that he does love his son. Given that he's so driven by this one thing in his life, it's hard for him to show it like a normal person would, heh.
The interaction between Dean and John are priceless--Dean has the patience of a saint.
I hope that Sam stays firm in deciding not to accept Ruby's help. She's believable, offers exactly what she says she will--only this Sam is smart enough to hear what she's not exactly saying. Good for him!
