That was an extremely satisfying ending. In fact the whole story was plotted, paced and written very well. Definitely adding it my bookmarks.
I wondered if you were going to have Sam be Dean's RL brother as soon as you mentioned he'd been fostered (foisted?) on Bobby. Unfortunately, that kind of behaviour wasn't outside John's mindset (when he was his most bloody-minded).
