Many things I enjoyed in this fic/sequel.

“Dean, we don’t have families like you humans do.”

“I think that’s us humans now,” Dean said pointedly.

“Only on the outside,”

Yay to not just erasing the cultural/species differences and perspectives between Sam and Dean. It fits that Dean superficially runs with human appearance means more human than not, and Sam still self-identifies as a *wolf* in human form. But the full circle plays out through by the end when Sam reacts to Dean's capture in very wolf-responsive terms -- teeth and hands. And Dean doesn't even blink. Nicely shown without making a spotlight point of it how the acceptance issue balances between the two. They have differences, some of them major. But their core connection is very similar, even if their words to define are different.

Dean defines "family" the way Sam defines his relationship to Dean. Each would fight to his last tooth and nail to preserve that.

People who went after a werewolf’s mate, or a hunter’s partner, should expect to get torn limb from limb.

Nutshell. Perfect.

Awesome. So nice to see more of this story and how things are progressing. I also appreciate that you don't try to wrap up every single detail but leave some things just ongoing character paths to explore -- it gives the sense of future, be it through more sequels or just through the imagined possibilities.
